On Monday, January 5, Bonifay Police officers stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation at State Road 79 and Evans Avenue. During the stop, officers requested assistance from the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit.
The K-9 alerted to the presence of narcotics, and a search of the vehicle led to the discovery of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and cash concealed under the passenger seat. The methamphetamine field-tested positive, with more than 20 grams recovered.
The passenger, identified as Thomas Peterson, was arrested and transported to the Holmes County Jail on charges related to methamphetamine trafficking and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The Bonifay Police Department expressed their appreciation of the assistance of the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office and states they remain committed to protecting the community and keeping illegal drugs off the streets.
