Rush goes ‘trick or treating’

BONIFAY – Holmes County High School and Bonifay K-8 recently had a day of trick or treating for one special Blue Devil.

Four-year-old Rush White was diagnosed with B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in June of this year and has missed many days of school because of hospital stays and doctor’s appointments for treatment. Fellow Blue DevilÂ’s wanted to ‘treatÂ’ Rush before his upcoming week-long stay in the hospital and they did so in a big way.

Rush, his mother Hanna Elmore, and a few friends
and family went about trick or treating down the hallways of BK8 and
HCHS with everyone filling up RushÂ’s wagon with all sorts of treats and
goodies to help get him through
his stay.

Hanna Elmore says the gesture is one that allowed Rush to be a child again. “Rush has missed so much this year being out of school and away from his friends,” said Elmore. “Just being able to see his friends and teachers brought the
more innocent smile to his face. We will never be able to repay or say
thank you enough to each person involved to make that happen for him
.”

BK8 says they cannot wait for him to return. “We love you, Rush and cant wait for you to be back in these hallways every single day. Stay tough Little Man.”

Mrs. Amy Somerset and Mrs. Brandi Jordan’s classes greeted Rush at HCHS with even more goodies and treats where it is said, ‘the smile on his face says it all.’
