From Grand Ridge to Chipley, Tennessee man flees FHP troopers

A 22-year-old Tennessee man led state troopers on a high-speed chase from Grand Ridge to Chipley Friday afternoon, before they were able to immobilize the vehicle and arrest him.

According to a news release from the Florida Highway Patrol, at about 3:45 p.m., state troopers saw a white Honda Accord traveling eastbound faster than 90 mph on U.S. 90 from just west of State Route 69 in Grand Ridge, in Jackson County.

Troopers said they saw the driver make a reckless left turn, crossing westbound traffic and entering a neighborhood. “As the trooper turned around and began to overtake the vehicle, (and) activated his emergency equipment, he was able to locate the vehicle in the neighborhood, and the driver accelerated, attempting to flee,” read the release.

A pursuit continued along U.S. 90 from the Grand Ridge area westbound through Marianna and Cottondale and into Washington County, where a Chipley Police Officer was able to successfully deploy spike strips.

“The pursuit continued through Chipley with the driver attempting to elude troopers, ending up on Brickyard Road, east of State Road 77,” reads the release, noting that the trooper was able to perform a successful PIT (Precision Immobilization Technique) to end the pursuit.

Taken into custody was Logan William Misenis, from Murfreesboro, Tennessee. He was booked into the Washington County Jail, without incident, and charged with felony fleeing and eluding, and driving while license is suspended or revoked, second offense.

He was also cited for speed – going 90 mph in a 55-mph zone – and an improper left turn. #
