Community Health Clinic offers free healthcare services

The Holmes County Community Health Clinic will be hosting a free clinic for those without health insurance from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, August 16, at 116 West Pennsylvania Avenue in Bonifay, Fl. No appointments are made ahead of time, and patients will be seen on a first come, first served basis. The clinic is open every third Saturday of each month, and can provide services to those who need to see a physician but don’t have health coverage.

“We welcome all patients; no insurance is needed,“ states Dr. Beverly Helms, clinic coordinator.

The clinic provides an array of medical services, including referrals and payment for lab work and certain procedures. These services are currently offered through a partnership with Doctor’s Memorial Hospital in Bonifay. Additionally, healthcare providers can offer their services to assist in clinic operations. “We’d be happy to speak to any providers interested in volunteering,” said Helms.

All who serve at the clinic are volunteers and are unpaid for their time.

“Our mission is to serve those who need our services,” said Helms. “It’s a labor of love and service.”

Dr. Kyle Contini is the current medical director for the clinic, with Pastor Shelly Chandler, along with ministerial staff from First Baptist Bonifay, providing counseling to patients each time the clinic is open.

While the clinic is currently open once a month, Dr. Helms states that they hope to return to operating twice per month as they have in the past.

For more information about the clinic, or to volunteer, contact First Baptist Bonifay at 850-547-2420 or Dr. Beverly Helms at 850-276-9129.
