The Holmes County Sheriff’s Office reports that an employee has been arrested in connection with a burglary and theft at Vortex Spring’s Copper Lodge.
On September 1, deputies responded to the location after receiving a report from Mr. Dockery, who stated that two flat-screen televisions had been stolen from the lodge.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies reviewed surveillance footage that identified employee Jeffery Thames as a suspect. While deputies were still on scene, Thames arrived, saw law enforcement present, and attempted to leave in a vehicle. Deputies conducted a traffic stop and questioned Thames, who admitted to taking the televisions.
Thames was taken into custody and charged with Burglary, Theft, and Criminal Mischief. Deputies later went to Thames’ residence on Johnson Lakes Road, where they recovered the stolen property. The televisions were returned to the owner.
The Holmes County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the incident.
