Westville man jailed after covert online operation

A Westville man is behind bars after Holmes County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) Investigators ran a covert online operation posing as a 15-year-old child.

On June 21, 60-year-old John McGlaun, was in contact with a covert Facebook account run by an HCSO investigator.

During the conversation, McGlaun made several comments alluding to sexual activities between himself and who he believed to be a 15-year-old child, according to HCSO. McGlaun asked to change apps for communication, promising explicit details if the conversation was moved to a different app.

The conversation continued with the investigator until McGlaun agreed to meet at the Westville Park. HCSO states in a release that McGlaun suggested he would bring condoms and make illegal drugs available. McGlaun allegedly told the 15-year-old child he thought he was meeting to come alone.

When McGlaun  arrived at the park, he was confronted by investigators and placed under arrest. He is charged with obscene communication using a computer to seduce, solicit, lure, or entice a child or person believed to be a child; and traveling to meet a minor.
