On August 1 the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) received a complaint regarding the financial exploitation of a 94-year-old woman in Westville.
Following an investigation, evidence was obtained showing that Matthew Nobles had written approximately $4,300 worth of checks from the victim’s account, depositing them into his own account.
Further investigation revealed that additional checks belonging to the victim had been forged and cashed at a local store.
Nobles was confronted with the evidence and during an interview, admitted to taking the money and forging the victim’s signature on the checks.
As a result, warrants have been obtained for Matthew Nobles for exploitation of the elderly, grand theft, forgery, and uttering a forged instrument.
Nobles initially agreed to turn himself in but has since refused to do so. HCSO is actively seeking information on his whereabouts. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office.
