The City of Bonifay, in partnership with the Bonifay Police and Fire Departments, has stepped up to host the inaugural Colton’s Champions Classic on Saturday, May 16 at the Bonifay Recreation Center, a charity baseball tournament benefiting the FOXP1 Syndrome Foundation.
The event is named in honor of three-year-old Colton Horne, son of tournament organizer and FOXP1 Syndrome Foundation Southern States Ambassador Darryl Horne, who was diagnosed with FOXP1 syndrome, a disorder that impacts communication and development. The event aims not only to raise funds but also to spread awareness and provide hope to families around the world facing similar challenges.
“This would not be possible without the people who stepped up,” Horne said. “I can’t thank the City of Bonifay, the Police Department, and the Fire Department enough for believing in this cause and helping bring it to life.”
The tournament will feature 8U, 10U, and 12U baseball divisions, with a $50 entry fee per recreational team. Spectator admission is $5.
Organizers are also calling on local teams, sponsors, vendors, and supporters to get involved and help make the inaugural Colton’s Champions Classic a success.
“This is bigger than just a tournament,” Horne says. “It’s about bringing people together for a cause that will impact families far beyond our community.”
Updates and additional details will be shared through the City of Bonifay and Bonifay Police Department Facebook pages.
