Holmes County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) deputies responded to a residence on Highway 79 on Monday, September 14, following a report of a burglary and theft, leading to the arrest one individual.

According to the HCSO, the victim provided deputies with photographs of the suspect and the suspect’s vehicle. The images were released to the public, and with assistance from community members, the suspect was identified as Adam Bigler.

Deputies went to the residence and spoke with the homeowner, who said Bigler had been kicked out and was believed to be staying in a wooded area across from the home.

Deputies located a makeshift camp in the woods and found items reported stolen from the Highway 79 residence. While deputies were on scene, Bigler returned and was detained. During questioning, he confessed to the burglary and theft.

Bigler was transported to the Holmes County Jail, where he was booked on charges of burglary and theft.

The Holmes County Sheriff’s Office thanked the victim and members of the public for assisting in identifying the suspect, noting that community involvement remains an important part of solving crimes in Holmes County.
