Holmes County honors dispatchers during national recognition week

In Holmes County, the impact of 911 dispatchers was front and center as the community observed National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week from April 12–18.

This annual recognition highlights the essential role dispatchers play as the first point of contact during emergencies, guiding callers through crises and coordinating response efforts across law enforcement, fire rescue, and medical services.

Local agencies, including the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office, used the week to publicly thank their communications personnel for their commitment, resilience, and professionalism. Dispatchers were recognized for their ability to remain calm under pressure while handling life-or-death situations.
