BONIFAY – On Sunday afternoon, June 13, Bonifay Fire-Rescue was alerted to a reported residential structure fire inside the city limits on East North Avenue. Fire crews arrived on scene and quickly determined the cause of a fire to be a faulty kitchen appliance. There was no damage to the home.
While on scene, an additional call came in through 911 to the Holmes County Communications Center for firefighters to respond to a hazardous situation on West Wisconsin Avenue.
A downed power line was located, as well as a home with roof damage due to a fallen tree. Gulf Power was notified, and Chief Larry Cook, Lieutenant Jack Griffiths and Firefighter Brennon Granberry stayed on scene and helped the homeowner by tarping their roof, which was damaged by the fallen tree.
Early Monday morning, June 14, BFD was requested to respond with a tanker truck by Jackson Fire Department to a residential structure fire in Jackson County. Graceville Fire Department, Chipley Fire Department, Cottondale Fire Department, Jackson County Fire-Rescue and Jackson County SheriffÂ’s Office were all on scene.
