Esto man arrested after attempting to hide meth during traffic stop

On September 29, 2025, a Holmes County Sheriff’s Office deputy was patrolling the Esto area when he observed a vehicle parked at a convenience store after business hours.

Upon approaching the vehicle, the deputy observed a white male attempting to hide inside the truck. The individual was identified as John Jackson. While speaking with Jackson, he admitted to ingesting methamphetamine in an attempt to conceal it from the deputy and began experiencing side effects.

The deputy immediately administered Narcan and requested EMS assistance. Once Jackson was medically cleared by EMS personnel, deputies conducted a search of the vehicle. The search revealed a $20 bill containing methamphetamine residue as well as .22 caliber bullets.

Jackson, a convicted felon, was placed under arrest and transported to the Holmes County Jail. He faces charges of:

Loitering and Prowling

Destruction of Evidence

Possession of Ammunition by a Convicted Felon

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Sheriff Tate commended the deputy for his quick actions that ensured Jackson received necessary medical care while also holding him accountable for his criminal activity.
