During a meeting of the Holmes County Board of County Commissioners, a special tribute was paid to former District 1 Commissioner Jim King in recognition of his years of dedicated public service.
King, who served on the board from 2000 to 2012, was honored for his longstanding commitment to the residents of Holmes County and his unwavering efforts to improve the community he has always called home.
Known for his hands-on approach and passion for public service, King’s legacy as a commissioner was one of accessibility, advocacy, and integrity. His son, Jimmy King, shared remarks with the board, noting the personal pride his father took in serving Holmes County and the fulfillment he found in giving back to his neighbors.
In the coming weeks, a permanent outdoor display will be installed at one of King’s favorite locations in the county. The tribute is intended to serve as a visible reminder of his contributions and the respect he earned from colleagues and constituents alike.
The King family expressed their appreciation for the recognition and support shown by the current commissioners, stating they look forward to sharing further details as the next phase of the memorial is completed.
