High-speed pursuit ends in crash; suspect flees on Foot in Holmes County

On March 23, deputies with the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on a silver Nissan on Highway 179. The driver was later identified as Cameron Williams, who had active warrants out of Holmes County.

During the stop, Williams fled in the vehicle and a pursuit was initiated. The pursuit continued north on Highway 179 at a high rate of speed. Williams failed to slow down or stop at the Pollard Harris / Bonifay Gritney Road intersection, left the roadway, and crashed into several trees in a citizen’s yard.

Williams then exited the vehicle and fled on foot. The NWFRC K9 team responded and began tracking Williams north, parallel to Pollard Harris Road, until they eventually lost the track.

As a result of this incident, Williams now faces additional warrants for Fleeing and Attempting to Elude, Reckless Driving, and Resisting Arrest.
